Velumount is a medical device with CE registration which complies with current European health and safety standards and essential requirements. Introduced to Australia in 2008, it has been registered and approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) of Australia.
Arthur Wyss, the inventor, developed and tested Velumount over many years at the University of Bern in Switzerland. To date, more than 10,000 people are using the individually fitted device that successfully prevents snoring which develops in the area of the soft palate. Velumount comfortably and gently opens the airways, preventing obstructions in the middle and upper throat area, thus reducing or even eliminating breathing interruptions and sleep apnoea.
Velumount for the treatment of OSA with Nasal Airway Resistance (NAR)
What does Velumount do? What do we offer? How
does it work?
Velumount is an individually fitted oral device which targets snoring and OSA.
It is NOT a mandibular advancement splint or mouthguard and does not depend
on your bite or dental structure when fitted. Following an initial consultation at
a cost of $75, the device is fitted in one of our workshops which takes approximately
2-3 hours and includes full training in the handling of the Velumount. The one-off
fitting cost is $395 (less the $75 consultation fee providing you attended one) and
includes 3 devices and an after-care session if required. Following this, no further
visits are necessary unless you wish to have after care assistance. Further
devices are available at a cost of $10 each if you purchase 4 or more. To

Velumount® P/L is actively involved in combating Snoring
and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA). To resolve the problem of snoring, firstly
the Causes of Snoring must be established. Over
time, harmless snoring can lead to the more serious problems associated with
Obstructive Sleep Apnoea.
Little seems to be known by the wider community about the Dangers
of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and associated health risks. Therefore symptoms
are often ignored or unnoticed. Do you have OSA
and how can you be sure? Do you want to know What
you can do about Obstructive Sleep Apnoea? Velumount has been especially
developed for clients who have not had success with other treatments.
Velumount Study
The Velumount device can provide similar results as that achieved with UPPP surgery but
without requiring the surgery itself. An independent clinical study performed by the Clinic for Neck, Nose,
Ear Disorders, Neck and Facial Surgery, Canton Hospital Liestal, Basel, Switzerland confirms this
and concludes:”The Velumount Method is effective for snoring and OSA and the nocturnal
Polysomnography of the upper airways validates the expectation of a therapy success.”

Non-Velumount Studies of Interest
There have been a number of local studies performed on the Mandibular Advancement (MAD) Splint --
another type of oral device used in the treatment of snoring and OSA. These studies validate the use of the
MAD for OSA and as an alternative treatment to the CPAP.
Click on one of the links below if you are interested in statistics and the abstract form of some of
these studies which include:

Oral appliances in the management of sleep disordered breathing
Oral appliance therapy in Obstructive Sleep Apnoea-Hypopnea Syndrome
Oral appliance treatment for obstructive sleep apnoea.
COMMENT:
Both the Velumount and Non-Velumount studies suggest that there is a place for oral devices as
an alternative treatment to the CPAP.
• SNORERS who are looking for a simple and effective solution to their problem.
• SNORERS who have not had success with other anti-snoring treatments.
• People who suffer from sleep apnoea.
NB: Velumount® must be individually fitted to your anatomy.
To be able to use the Velumount device correctly, you require basic knowledge
and training.
Velumount P/L offers individual fitting of the device by fully trained staff.
Redeemable on cost of full fitting - $395
